Description

(1/2 oz) ~70 Seeds certified organic SENECA RED STALKER corn seeds; Zea mays; Native American Historic variety A beautiful heirloom corn originating with the Seneca Nation of Indians. Popular for ornamental purposes, both for its multi-colored kernels, but also for its gorgeous, dark red husks. Ears contain kernels of all colors, from white, to yellow, red, blue and black. Stalks are dark red/purple too. Colorful 8-9″ ears, about 105 days to maturity. germination rate 94%, tested 02/2020 Corn is wind-pollinated, so plant in short blocks (i.e. rectangular matrix) rather than long rows so that ears fill out with kernels. Rows should be spaced 18-24″ apart; sow seeds 6″ apart. Cover seeds with 1″ fine soil. Typical germination rate 5-10 days when soil temperature is 60F+. Do not plant too early, perhaps wait couple weeks after the last frost.
