Details: Chinese Jasmine (Jasminum Polyanthum), is a popular ornamental vine grown for its dense, glossy leaves and its fragrant star-shaped white flowers. A variety of jasmine native to southeastern China, Chinese jasmine blooms in late winter and very early spring, and can bring a burst of color to an otherwise bleak winter landscape or a starkly bare wall or fence. Depending on how it is trained, Chinese jasmine can be grown as a climbing vine or a bushy shrub. The Chinese Jasmine plant is best suited to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 8 to 11 and cannot tolerate frost. Chinese jasmine thrives when planted in fertile, well-drained soil, and where it will receive at least four hours of direct sunlight each day.
