Description

Champion II These high-yielding plants produce medium-sized fruits with delicious flavor throughout the summer. A step up from the original Champion, Champion II has the same flavor with much-improved disease resistance for easier gardening success. This variety is a garden favorite, producing large yields into the fall. Use them for slicing on sandwiches and burgers or in salads. These tomatoes need at least one inch (2.5 cm) of water per week and prefer six hours or more of direct sun each day. Tomatoes can be grown easily in patio containers. Be sure to offer a large enough pot, and place it in a full-sun location. Support plants with stakes or cages to ensure proper fruiting. Be sure to monitor water, as containers dry out more quickly than plants in the ground. Plant tomatoes in the ground 24 to 36 in. (60 to 90 cm) apart in rows. Each row should be spaced 48 inches apart. It’s very tempting to put them closer at planting time, but if you get them too close you’ll only increase the chance of disease. Use slow-release fertilizer at planting time. Spacing: 24-36in Exposure: Full Sun – 6+ hours direct sun Fruit weight: 10oz Days to harvest: 65 Growth: Indeterminate TOMATO: Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and the seeds are high in fiber. The green parts are mildly poisonous, which is not surprising, as tomatoes are closely related to both nightshade and tobacco. The tomato was originally believed to be poisonous when introduced into Europe, and was used solely as an ornamental plant during the 16th and 17th centuries. The first traces of its use as a food date back to the first half of the 18th century. Tomatoes are now a tasty ingredient in many dishes, and are used fresh, canned, stewed or even sun-dried.

I had a get experience buying from Hirt’s. My items shipped quickly, were package great and everything looks wonderful. They even included a heat pack, even though I hadn’t asked for one.
