700 Seeds (1/8 oz) NOZAWANA Japanese Turnip Green seeds; のざわな 野沢菜; Brassica rapa; Kitazawa #116 This traditionally selected Japanese turnip is grown specifically for its dark green, long leafed greens and stalks. Cold and heat tolerant. It has a delicious mild flavor, tender texture, and is often used for pickling. Best plant them in rows with seeds spaced 1/2″ apart and rows spaced 8″ apart. Cover seeds with 1/4″ soil and keep soil moist (but not soggy) for 10 days to ensure high germination rate. Thin out crowded area after 3 weeks and use the baby greens for ramen noodle or any purpose. If there are insect troubles, try neem oil spray instead of usual chemical pesticides. Best picked at 2-oz size. If left unchecked, it could continue growing for 4-5 months without bolting/flowering and reach 2-ft tall & 1-lb in weight but may no longer be tender eating.
