Description
(Asclepias Syriaca) Perennial. Also known as Common Milkweed, this Monarch host plant produces a profusion of lavender to pink flowers in midsummer. Prefers full sun and loamy soil, but can tolerate a wide variety of conditions. One of the easiest and fastest milkweeds to grow, as it spreads rapidly by rhizomes and grows readily from seed. I had great success with these milkweed seeds! I wasn’t sure if I would, so I planted more than I should have in the two large planter pots. I think nearly 100% have sprouted! once they establish more roots I plan to transplant them to other pots to let them spread out a bit more. It took about 2 weeks from planting to sprout. They look very healthy so far. I spread the rest in my front yard so my dogs don’t get to them.
