You will receive exactly 5 seeds. Note white bittermelon seeds are rarely offered by American seed companies, often out of stock at Baker Creek too. These white skin bittermelon seeds are legally imported from Japan by a wholesale distributor based in San Diego CA, mainly serving commercial growers. Okinawa is best known for large-scale Japanese bittermelon cultivation, due to its sub-tropical climate. General Bittermelon Growing tips: 0) indoor germination using heat mat and grow light is highly recommended. May take 7-14 days to germinate with soil temperature at 85F. May take 3-4 weeks for direct sowing outdoor with soil temperature at least 65F overnight. 1) Do not transplant too early, as young plants could be stunned when overnight temperature below 45F. 2) Let the vines climb to chain link fence, cattle panel, arbor, trellis…etc. Best fruit yielding when maximum sun exposure is provided (partial shade is okay if you are in scorching summer areas). Provide at least 20-30 sqft aerial space per vine. 3) Once a female flower is found, you can pinch off the rest of the “branch”, to achieve best fruit size, as well as provide “bushy” growth to the main vine. 4) Harvest edible fruits about two to three weeks after flowering. If skin color changed to orange, it is too ripe already. 5) Since this is a hybrid variety, the seeds you collected may not have the good yield attribute, but most likely white skin bittermelon fruits still. So worth the try, as any white bittermelon seeds are hard to find anywhere in USA.
