Description
Calathea roseopicta ‘Medallion’ is a cultivar of calathea selected for round leaves with brilliant markings, resembling a medallion. Calatheas are often called ‘prayer plants’ because of their unique leaf movements: they raise and lower their leaves from day to night as a part of their circadian rhythm. This phenomenon is called nyctinasty. Plant movements are controlled by a flux of water pressure in the pulvini – nodes at the base of the leaves. Scientists theorize that these movements are meant to follow the sun and catch as much light as possible –– an essential trait for a forest-floor-dwelling plant!

Beautiful plant! Just a little browning on the tips but that will clear up in no time. The coloring is beautiful and the one I received has 2 babies coming in. So excited to see them mature!

My plant shipped extremely fast and arrived in perfect condition, with lots of beautiful, healthy leaves. I’ve ordered this particular type of calathea (it’s my favorite) from other Etsy shops, and this was definitely my best experience in price, shipping and overall quality. Very happy customer!

Plants arrived expertly packed, in great condition, even still moist. No stress damage at all. Both plants are super happy, and my calathea is bigger than I thought it would be! Super happy with this purchase, would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous calathea! Beautiful markings and in really great shape. It’s still dealing with some shipping trauma but it was packed so well that even with the shock of being in a box and traveling, all of the leaves are perfect. Definitely recommend this seller and this plant. I love it!
