Description
150 Seeds Love-Lies-Bleeding Amaranth. Amaranthus caudatus. 4-5 ft. Tender Annual/Reseeding. Called “Flower Gentle” by Culpepper, this tall plant produces pinkish-red, draping plumes with distinctly beautiful, opalescent, tiny seed that is both ornamental and edible. Can be used as both a cut or dried flower. Sow directly, 8-10 seeds per foot when soil is warm and danger of frost has passed. For an earlier crop, can be planted in flats and transplanted at 4-8 inches tall when danger of frost has passed. For cut flowers, pick at peak of bloom. Leave heads on plants until they drop a few seeds or pick before first frost for eating. Dry for about a week until brittle’. Planting Depth: 1/8″-1/4″. Soil Temp.for Germ.: 65-90 degrees F. Days to Germ.: 10-15. Plant Spacing: 1′-2′. Days to Maturity: 60-70. Full Sun. Moderate Water.
