Description
(1/4-OZ) 3000+Seeds Non GMO heirloom seeds: Japanese Red Giant Mustard Greens, 日本大紫芥菜 Karashina からしな. Great autumn and spring crops. For southern states, it may survive mild winter enduring light frosts. Beautiful maroon leaves with green ribs provide interest in the flower bed. Enjoy them as microgreens, baby greens, or fully matured feaves. Each packet contains 3000+ seeds, or 1/4 oz worth, good for 50 to 100+ sqft depending on using broadcast sowing method or in rows 4″ apart. Harvest in just 45-60 days. Direct outdoor sowing is the easiest, just lightly cover the seeds with 1/4” soil, keep the soil moist and they should germinate quickly so long daytime temperature is over 60F. For green thumbs, you can cover the soil surface with clear poly to accelerate germination dramatically. Great cool weather crop for the autumn, as it would not flower or bolt as spring crop. In ideal planting condition, harvesting 25-40 pounds of mustard greens is possible, as each mature plant can be 2-4 oz in weight. Also, you can just harvest the outer large leaves rather the whole plant, for continuous harvest. Here in zone 5B, I can protect the mustard greens with low tunnel (or DIY cold frame with 4 to 8 5-gal buckets covered with clear poly), and extend autumn harvest into mid/late November. This heirloom leafy veggie is great for baby green salad, stir fry (with a touch of shredded ginger), soup, hot pot, or sukiyaki. For stir fry, do add some chopped or minced ginger root to the hot cooking oil, let it sizzle for 15 seconds, then pour in mustard greens. Need more seeds?
