Description
Despite the long, tongue-twisting name, the dwarf golden sweet flag is one of the most striking and certainly the cutest of the acorus. The tufts of tiny, golden, ornamental grass-like, evergold foliage make a slowly spreading patch to 2′ wide in 5 years. If you get out the magnifying glass, you’ll notice the tiny aroid-like tan spadices (flowers) in early summer. Acorus ‘Minimus Aureus’ is a bright, deer-resistant, dwarf evergreen perennial groundcover in moist shady areas where it makes either a feature specimen or a killer filler between dark stepping stones…a real highlight in the woodland garden. Also an excellent house plant for terrariums and fairy gardens.

This will be my first attempt in trying to grow Chinese Lanterns. The plants I received were good sized, healthy appearing and packaged securely. I have them in my windowsill for now and will later place in an outdoor planter when our weather warms up. Received promptly. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I received 2 plants as ordered from Hirts in beautiful shape. They appeared to be very healthy – well worth the 23.48 for two. I also received another eucalyptus ordered through Etsy but from a different garden. I ordered only one as it was higher in price. The total with shipping for one plant was 45.64. One branch was broken and the color was not as blue. I’ll stick with Hirts in the future.
