Description
11,200 Seeds (1-OZ), 7-gram, or 1/4-oz worth Baby Taiwan Pak Choi 台灣小白菜; Bok Choy; heirloom non-GMO. Good all-season crop! This green stem variety is very popular in Taiwan & Japan. It has an attractive light green leaves, and thin petioles that are tender and very delicious. It is high yielding and known for its heat tolerance. Mature in just 40 days. This traditional stable green is excellent stir fry veggie, with a touch of minced ginger. Tasty with egg drop soup or miso seaweed tofu soup too, or simply sprinkle them onto ramen noodles. The easiest cultivation method is direct sowing, cover seeds in 1/8-1/4” fine soil. Do not over-seed, a pinch-ful or 50 seeds per sqft is more than plenty. Keep the soil moist & seeds should germinate within a week or so if daytime temperature is above 60F. In early spring, cover the soil in clear poly to accelerate germination dramatically, acting like a coldframe. After 30 days of growth, I like to thin out the over-crowded ones as baby greens for making stir fry or ramen soup, and leave some bigger ones to spread out sparsely grow to 8-12” diameter and weigh several oz each. Great autumn crop, slow bolting and can tolerate light frost. Use cold frame or low tunnel to extend harvest to Thanksgiving or even Christmas here in Chicago SW burb zone 5B.
