50 Seeds MITOYO NASU Japanese Eggplant seeds; 三豊なす 三豊茄子; Solanum melongena Mitoyo Nasu is a variety traditionally grown in Mitoyo City of Kagawa Prefecture 香川県三豊市. It is one of the tastiest varieties available, Mitoyo stands out for it’s deep purple, practically black appearance, even the crown and stem are black on these! They’re so sweet you can eat them raw, and even when they’re over-ripe for seed saving, they still don’t get bitter. Eggplants have thin skin and about the size some where from baseball to softball. They average 10-16 ounces each, but may get smaller toward the end of the season. Expect good production from this variety. Use them raw, or you can cook, bake, roast, or pickle them. Plants grow 3-4 feet tall. – Start seeds indoor (with grow light & heating pad if possible) about 4 weeks before the last frost. – Transplant about couple weeks after the last frost. – Full sun is preferred. If partial shade, afternoon sun is a must. Rotate crop every year, if possible. – Ideal pH level is between 5.5 and 7.2. – Fertile well drained soil preferred. Add as much of organic matters as possible. – Space seedlings 18-24″ apart; space rows 2-3′ apart – Use weed blocker (or uv-rated black plastic) to retain heat & moisture.

I haven’t had a chance to plant the seeds yet, but they were shipped very quickly and the portions were generous!

Planted these in 6 pack, 5-6 seeds per cell, and germination was high. Note. Plant the entire cells worth and just pull off as needed
