16000 Seeds (2 OZ) Allium porrum ‘Carentan’ is a hardy leek, that has medium to large stems, good yields and tolerates poor soils. It is a fast-growing and vigorous variety that is easy to grow and is low maintenance – perfect for beginner gardeners. Carentan has a delicate, mild flavor, and is great fresh or cooked. From sowing seeds to harvest 2″ thick stalk takes about 110-120 days. Very adaptable and good yields! Origin: An incredibly old European leek variety known from around the 1800’s, first mentioned by Vilmorin in 1885.. This variety is well known for its medium to large sized stems, that have a consistent quality with a mild flavour. Best planted in mid to late summer for a winter harvest.
