DESCRIPTION: NAME: Mixed Colors Lotus – Certified Organic SCIENTIFIC NAME: Nelumbo COLOR: Pink, White, Red, Yellow, & Blue PLANT SEEDS: At 70 – 90F (in water) BLOOM TIME: Late Spring – Summer HARDINESS ZONE: 4 – 11 PLANT HEIGHT: 4 – 6′ PLANT SPACING: 2 – 3′ LIGHT REQUIREMENTS: Sun – Part Shade SOIL & WATER PREFERENCES: Aquatic QUANTITY: 3 Organic Seeds OTHER: The Lotus is an aquatic plant whose roots grow under the water with large lily pad type leaves & flowers float on top of the water. The huge leaves can measure as much as 2’ wide, & are topped with huge 8 – 12” fragrant flowers. The flowers turn to ornamental seed pods that are popularly used dried in arrangements or potpourris. These are the large-seeded nelumbo species whose seeds measure an average of 18mm long. Lotus plants can be naturalized in larger bodies of water, or they can be grown in containers in smaller ponds or fountains or to keep them from spreading.

These were so easy to start. I have a green thumb and will attempt to grow anything I find unusual or unique. This is my 1st attempt at these plants. I made myself a fountain/pond this year and thought I would try my hand at these lily pads. I sanded the bottoms. Pricked the shell with a razor, placed them in a tiny glass bud vase, filled it with the pond water and nestled it in the rocks.
Once they sprouted, I removed them from the vase and tucked the seeds among the rocks.
Once they began sending shoots, I dropped them to the furthest depth of the vessel. Today I noticed my 1st lily pad! I can’t wait for blooms! Thank you! Another order that outhe park!
